Packaging Plus Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

In everything from design to materials selection and on through manufacturing we consider the environmental impact of our products and processes to protect the world we live in.  Today's consumers are demanding that packaging producers take responsibility for the footprint of their products and we have been leading the industry in providing intelligent solutions.  We have continually invested in sustainable practices across key areas of our business as follows: 

Recycling and the use of recycled materials--Over 30 million pounds of materials are processed annually with an average post consumer content above 50%.  Corrugated, aluminum and office recycling programs that divert over half a million pounds of materials per year from landfills.

Waste reduction through packaging design--Patented design technology that allows for significant reductions in both inbound and outbound packag size and weight while facilitating re-use and the use of recycled materials.  These environmental award winning systems have saved millions of pounds of materials and eliminated hundreds of thousands of pallets inbound packaging materials.

Resource Reduction--Utilization of over 35,000 reusable (CHEP) pallets that continually circulate in the global supply chain.  Sourced responsibly these pooled resources maximize asset utilization and minimize the use of natural resources.  Inbound packaging materials, wherever possible are reused for outbound shipments, including an additional 10,000 pallets and thousands of master cartons per year.

Energy Conservation measures--Facilities lighting has been updated to be as energy efficiient as possible.  Heating, cooling, transportaiton and process efficiencies are also inlcuded in our ongoing conservation efforts.

Social Responsibility--We are commited to providing a safe work environment and to preventing injuries or illness ot our employees, customers, suppliers, contractors and the communities in which we operate everyday.  Through high quality work standards in our operations we strive to positively impact both people and the environment.

Multiple Uses--We work to design packaging products that can be used multiple times before they are discarded/recycled.  Our GeoSpring fragility packaging can be re-used up to 5 times in some applications.

Going forward we are commited to the use of life cycle analysis tools to review and improve the environmental attributes of our products and we will continue to invest in the most efficient process technologies available.
